Care Tips for Cashmere Sweater

Updated: Jun 26

Cozy, textured, and incredibly warm, a good cashmere sweater is the partner in crime that every wardrobe needs. It’s versatile and reliable, and can be styled a multitude of ways to create different looks for different occasions. Cashmere usually come to be associated with luxury, which can help deepen your appreciation for your own cashmere garments. Caring for cashmere requires effort and thought, but is worth it to protect the value and quality of your investment pieces.

First, after each wear take time to immediately remove all the pills on the sweater. These pills or small balls are caused by some of the loose fibre tangling together as areas of your garment are rubbed during wear. The best way to do this is by hand, better using a de-pilling knitwear comb, also called 'cashmere comb'. You will find that, after lavishing a little care and attention on your cashmere sweater and removing the pills, the garment will actually consolidate and soften in handle and touch.

Next, don’t wear the sweater repeatedly day after day. The sweater needs time to ‘breathe’ and relax after each wear.

Third, don’t wash or clean the sweater more than you need to, as cashmere fiber has natural oils that are lost with each cleaning.
